Free Stamp Giveaway Promotion
Heres a quick and easy promotion.
The next time there is a postage rate increase, why not get your morning show (or any personalities) out on the road and give away free stamps to cover the rate increase. The last rate increase was only one cent, which means you could give away 100 stamps for $1.00. Not a bad investment. It gets your people out and in touch with the public. Maybe you could gain some new listeners to the station. Its a great goodwill gesture.
Set up shop in the post office parking lot on the day of the increase and just hand out free one cent stamps. You may want to check with the Postmaster to get permission. You can give each person as many as they need. It will keep people from standing in those long lines just to get their one cent stamps at the counter. If you have some station promotional items lying around, you could hand those out as well. Maybe you could have some small cards printed out with your station information on them to hand out with the stamps.
Be creative with this one. Its easy and very inexpensive.
If you missed out on this promotion this year, file this idea away and be prepared for the next rate increase.
If you do try this promotion, Id love to know how it worked out for you.

Comments:
We gave away three cent stamps at the downtown post office.... We had a great response. The goal was simply to make peoples' mornings as they were walking into the post office and the downtown location was very busy.... We gave away about 400 stamps which cost us under $12.
